A Brief Introduction to UTILOCATE

UTILOCATE (a Division of CEC) is a pioneer in the field of locating underground utilities, and is dedicated to performing utility location and mapping services.  We use the most advanced methods (such as Radio-Frequency and GPR technologies) for utility location.  We have performed thousands of utility location projects for government agencies and utility owners.  UTILOCATE routinely performs these services to support our design work for underground utility systems, site development, and transportation projects.  Many of our clients have become convinced of the efficiencies associated with this relatively new engineering discipline.

UTILOCATE uses state-of-the-art TotalStation survey equipment to record precise location data

      electronically.

UTILOCATE employs the latest technology in directed air and slurry vacuum excavation

techniques to ensure that even the most sensitive utilities are not damaged.

UTILOCATE's excavation equipment can be used even in remote, confined areas.

UTILOCATE can tailor the services to fit the needs of your project.  We can perform larger

projects in phases maintaining accuracy from one end to the other because we use state-of-art

      equipment.

Material excavated using UTILOCATE techniques can be directly removed off-site if

contaminated, or it can be returned to the test hole from which it was removed.

Small-diameter openings cause less damage to pavement and landscaping around test sites.

Surveyed data can be recorded in "layers" so one utility or any combination of utility layers can

be called up for review as needed.

Precision utility mapping data can be reviewed at any time; Surveying the

location is a one-time only cost.

Remote Sensing Technology

Remote sensing gathers information about objects or surface conditions by observing and recording variations in magnetic fields, electromagnetic energy, and acoustic energy, through the use of the latest advanced-technology transmitting and receiving equipment.

UTILOCATE  is a leader in the use of Remote Sensing Technology.

Economy

The principle advantage of remote sensing technology is its economy.  A satellite or aerial image of an area can reveal topical information and surface features of importance to an engineer with the required accuracy, and without the expense and delay involved in sending out a survey crew.
